Measuring 131/2" by 511/2", the Bat table scarf is worked on heavy-weight Craftsman Flax and includeshand-appliqued bats that arecouched in matching deep brown pearl cotton thread. Ivy leaves are hand-embroidered in the satin stitchusing olive green pearl cotton thread, and the stems are embroidered in the stem stitchusing nutmeg brown thread. The center straight lines provide direction and strength and are embroidered in chain stitch with olive green thread running through the center of the stitch. A stem stitch worked in nutmeg brown thread creates a decorative double folded hem. The natural upside down nature of the bat was preserved in the table scarf.
The design, as pictured, can lay flat across the length of a surface, or drop down the sides of the table (allow for an 11-inch drop). Appliqued bats can be arranged to "fly up" or "hang upside down" as photographed. Please make note of your bat direction at check-out.
Design specifics: Distance between each motif is 15 inches; with a design drop (measured from the top of the design to the bottom of the hem) of 11* and the finished table scarf measurements is 131/2" by 511/2". Increasing the length of a table scarf is easy. Note the distance between motifs; in this case 15 inches. If you need a longer table scarf the additional length would be addedin this area . For example, if you would like the scarf for a 4-foot (48-inch) table with the design dropping down the sides, then you would take your table measurement (48 inches) and the design drop (11 inches times 2) add these two together ( 70 inches), then subtract 70 inches from the original scarf length of 511/2" , and arrive at a total additional length of 181/2. As a kit, the length can be increased for .50 cents per inch. In our sample the additional costs would be $9.25 (18.5" x .50). As a finished scarf the cost is $1 per inch, and would be an additional $18.50 (18.5" x $1) in our example. Specify any additional length at check out in the "notes" section, we will adjust the total charge and notify you of the costs. *NOTE: Motif length is 16 and therefore the design (embroidered lines down to triangles) will wrap around side and top of table. Therefore your drop could be created shorter or longer than 11 inches.
