Bedspreads

Paint By Threads specializes in creating bedspreads that are simple; showcasing clean straight lines and seams which is essential to accentuating an Arts and Crafts bed. A central motif provides interest and color. Bedspreads are coverlet or throw style and include a 21-inch drop at the sides and end of bed, and have a traditional pillow tuck at the top. Duvet style bedspreads are also available and include a cotton or linen backing with a button closure at the top for insertion of your favorite down comforter for those cool winter nights. Custom bedspreads can be created to coordinate with a wall paper or wall stencil design.


butterfly motif

The motif is stenciled in a palette of rich brown, gold, olive green, with accents of orange and slate blue. The outermost edges and antennae are outlined in embroidery.  The design has a length of 16 inches and a width of 20 inches. We accept request for custom colors.


carrie’s garden

This motif is stenciled with either gold, cream or pink (Echinacea) flowers, and hand embroidered in stem and coral stitches and French knots. Leaves for both color-ways are olive green, and the flower stems are brown. The design has a width of 16 ½ inches and a length of 21 inches.



water lily motif

Hand stenciled and outlined in embroidery, the Water Lily motif is worked in a palette of olive greens, browns and gold. The lily is rendered in red with coral highlights, and “pollen” created with French knots. The design is 21 inches wide and 16 inches in length.



rose motif

Worked entirely in stencil, the Rose Motif is available with either red, gold, pink or plum roses, and leaves and stems for all color variations are worked in either olive or evergreen. The finished design measures 20 inches wide by 17 inches in length.



spiderwort motif

Offered in a color palette of russet red, gold, and sage green the Spiderwort motif is hand stenciled than embroidered in stem and satin stitches and French knots. The design measures 18 ½ inches wide by 16 inches in length.



carrie’s garden

Hand stenciled and outlined in embroidery, Cattails & Dragonflies is worked in a palette of sage, olive greens, and browns. Period textiles including towels and garment bags were often personalized with initials.  A special place is left for an embroidered initial. The design can also be worked without an initial (the lower area is removed for this option). The dragonflies can be worked in blue, red or gold. The design is 28 inches wide and 40 inches in length


nell

The “Nell” motif can be stenciled with gold blooms (as shown), or can be stenciled in red, plum burgundy, or deep turquoise blue, and is outlined in hand embroidery using the stem stitch, with topmost “seeds” worked in satin stitch, and flower heads worked in French knots. Leaves for all color options are stenciled in olive green, and the flower stems are hand embroidered using pearl cotton brown thread. The design has a width of 16 inches and a length of 16 inches (the width of the design can be increased for California and Eastern King beds by added a third motif (providing an additional 9 inches for a total width of 25 inches). We accept other color requests.

 


COMPLETE BEDSPREAD COST

Cost to construct a complete bedspread are provided below.  Prices include: material (8 to 10 yards of Irish Linen or Pasadena [Flax or Natural]), labor to construct bedspread, and embroidery/stenciling of selected design. Costs associated with selection of heavy-weight linen are reflected in the following table and are added to the final cost.
